Here are two emails I sent out to members about June events.

***

Hi all,

Upcoming member events are at the end of this email. 2 updates first:

I’m happy that Collective Agency was again listed as one of the top coworking places in the U.S. https://symmetry50.squarespace.com/blog/2015/5/13/the-top-100-coworking-spaces-in-the-us and https://collectiveagency.co/press

I bought a new hallway printer that I think is awesome. It’s an Epson; it automatically appears as a printer option on people’s computers with no need to download drivers. It scans and prints up to 11″x17″. Ask me if you have any questions about it.

Collective Agency June Member Events

Week 1: Optional Member Meeting on Wednesday 6/3 @ 2-2:30pm
Week 2: Work-in-Progress Presentation on Tuesday 6/9 @ 2pm-2:40pm
Week 3: East Coast Lunch/Portland Breakfast on Tuesday 6/16 @ 9am-9:45am
Week 4: Dim Sum Lunch on Thursday 6/23 @ 12-1:30pm

Week 1: Optional Member Meeting on Wednesday 6/3 @ 2-2:30pm. Meet on the sofas here in the middle of the big loft room.
As always, 30 minutes to plan events and what can be even better here. The agenda is: We’ll go around, what’s your name, what’s something you’re passionate about? We’ll cover the upcoming events. Then: what are some things you’d like to do or see at Collective Agency? What’s something you’re passionate about that you’d like to share with other members?

Week 2: Work-in-Progress Presentation on Tuesday 6/9 @ 2pm-2:40pm. In the NW conference room here.
Members can share something you’re working on and what kind of input you’d like for 5-8 minutes each. Then for 3 minutes, people share what resonated with them, and questions. i. Goal: spend less than 30 minutes preparing specifically for the presentation. ii. Goal: Have at least 3 things not perfect with what or how you’re sharing, maybe even very wrong, but happily/relaxedly. iii. Goal: Generate dialogue on a current project to gain new perspectives and insight.

Week 3: East Coast Lunch/Portland Breakfast on Tuesday 6/16 @ 9am-9:45am. Meet at John’s Cafe.
Let’s have a breakfast and make it amazing. John’s Cafe is on NW Broadway and Everett. It’s an old-school, greasy spoon diner. Bring friends/family/people who like breakfast/people who like diners/people who work East Coast time. http://www.yelp.com/biz/johns-cafe-portland

Week 4: Dim Sum Lunch on Thursday 6/23 @ 12-1:30pm
Tuesday June 23 at 12pm is a member lunch: we’ll walk to a nearby dim sum palace, the House of Louie. There are some vegetarian and gluten-free options (and especially other options). http://www.yelp.com/biz/house-of-louie-portland Price per person is around $10-$14, bring cash. Table seating is family-style around a big table with a lazy susan. If you’d like to bring friends/family, that’s great.

Lots of good things are happening at Collective Agency. Three new members signed up in the past week, and nine new members total in the past two months.

I’m happy that we now have 4 kinds of looseleaf tea from the Art of Tea in the kitchen, ongoing. And a lot of hot sauces, by request. I’m going to start looking for large pieces of colorful art on the walls by local artists who want their art featured here.

If you already have a Yelp account and would like to review us, that’d be helpful to attract members in your own words: yelp.com/biz/collective-agency-portland Writing a review onhttps://www.google.com/search?q=collective+agency+portland or https://www.facebook.com/collectiveagency or mentions on https://twitter.com/CollectiveAgenC are all helpful too.

#slack is an online communication network suggested by Skip — we’re slowly seeing how/if it might work here. Dan and Kevin and Kenneth and I are on it. If you’re interested, email me and I’ll email you access to it.

And there are lots of events:

https://collectiveagency.co/events/ A happy hour picnic in the big loft room, this coming Thursday 5-7pm, has been added to the member events. We’ll have wine and beer, some food, and picnic blankets, in the area where the sofas in the middle of the big loft room usually are. I love happy hours for relaxed non-work socializing here. Bringing friends and family is great too.

This Tuesday 9am-9:45am is the member breakfast at John’s Cafe on NW Everett and Broadway. It’s cash-only. I’ll be a little late getting there but members have RSVP’d and will be there at 9am.

There are some upcoming event rentals in the big loft room. We have them on average once a month. During the event rentals, members have unlimited access to the conference rooms.

  • Tomorrow, Saturday, from 3-5pm is a private event rental. I’ll start setup at 2pm, and then it’s an Oregon Wellesley Club event—a short lecture by a math professor.
  • June 26 and 27, Friday night and Saturday all day and night, is an AT&T Mobile App Hackathon, no charge and open to the public. Setup starts 5pm on Friday, then the event starts 6pm. http://www.eventbrite.com/e/att-mobile-app-hackathon-portland-tickets-16053435257
  • July 6, 5-10pm Monday night, is a World Domination Summit event here. Setup starts 5pm on Monday, then the event starts at 6pm. They’ve been renting here for years and I’m happy to have them back.
