Moving forward I hope we can be open to the public every day; we’ll see how this Friday goes. Last month was great.
Some people will pay for membership or meetings, and some people are just not in that market, but it’s good to have them here anyway, to have conversations and variety of work and interests, for people to experience what this is, and to be a community-of-communities. There is much more serendipity when some people are here free and some people are here paid, and it supports openness with limits (being considerate of others while having abundance and community), which many members value.
Jane Jacobs has 4 principles for vibrant cities: one is density, another is mixed-use, another is mixed cost levels, another is many opportunities to overlap in interactions. We are a workplace democracy, and aim to be like the ideal city or a village that members and other people here want.
Here’s the invite:
“Come work and have conversations at Collective Agency during our First Fridays Free Days, and join an optional potluck lunch.
Members, come as usual, and you can bring guests, it’ll be the same for you as it is every day but with more people here.
All new members and free people are making history or generally being great; take the quiz to see if you qualify. http://collectiveagency.co/quiz/ [Edit: since taken down and not needed.]
If you qualify, then there are 2 requirements:
1) RSVP commenting below with: your name, what time you expect to be here, what you’ll be working on (you can include a link to a website or social media), and what you’re looking for. This will be posted on our website, RSVP pages, and here on the wall.
2) While you’re here, aside from lunch, you’ll find ways to talk with at least 2 people here for at least 30 minutes total.
• 10am – Open for free
• 12pm – Optional potluck lunch
• 4pm – End of Open House
At 4pm, after the day here, there will be a happy hour at Pints.
People here for free will have access to the big loft room, the kitchen, and restrooms, but not: conference rooms, locker storage, computer monitors. You can come in groups of up to 14 people but everybody has to qualify and do the actions described above. There are no age restrictions.
